Our staff is our greatest asset! It consists of licensed veterinary technicians, highly trained veterinary assistants and client care representatives who are extremely proficient at their respective duties. This ensures that your pet will receive the most compassionate care while at our hospital. We are particularly proud of the level of supervision our patients receive during surgery and post-operatively while in recovery. Your pet is supervised at all times and their progress documented in their permanent medical record. The staff takes great pride in the job they perform and makes sure your pet's visit is as pain free as possible.

Dr.Gittelman

Dr. Howard Gittelman

A graduate of Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Graduate school, Dr. Gittelman began his career as a companion animal veterinarian in a multi-doctor specialty practice in Rhode Island. Here he cultivated his interests in emergency medicine and was subsequently appointed Director of Animal Emergency Clinic in Oahu, in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the completion of his commitment, he returned to the east coast and took up residence in New City where he assumed the directorship of Animal Medical of New City. Dr. Gittelman has served as the President of the Westchester/Rockland Veterinary Medical Association for three years, and is currently serving on the New York State Veterinary Medical Society's Executive Board. He was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors at Hi Tor Animal Shelter and is also the Treasurer for the New City Chamber of Commerce. His areas of special interest include veterinary dentistry, cardiology, surgery and the human-animal companion bond. He has devoted his career to continuing education and serving his clients and their pets.

Lisa Schenkel

Dr. Lisa Schenkel

After completing her degree in electrical engineering and working in her chosen field, Dr. Schenkel decided to go back to school to pursue her life long dream; she had always wanted to be a veterinarian. She completed her veterinary training at the prestigious Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine at Fort Collins, Colorado. Following her graduation, she was chosen for a one-year internship at Sacramento Animal Medical Group in Carmichael, California, where she specialized in small animal medicine and surgery. Following the completion of her internship, she completed a one-year term at the North Shore Animal League Hospital for small animals where she received extensive training in pediatric medicine and infectious diseases. Dr. Schenkel has been a pivotal member of our professional staff for the past three years and is devoted to the care of all her patients. She has a special interest in critical care, pain management and surgery. She currently resides in Rockland County with her 4 four-legged children: Guinness, Yogi, Ziggy and Stoli.

Sandy Bertholf

Sandy Bertholf, LVT

Graduate of Mercy College, Sandy is a practicing licensed veterinary technician who's been with Animal Medical since 1996. Before joining our hospital, she had extensive training while attending a four year veterinary college in addition to completing externships in critical care facilities. Sandy also trained with Board Certified Veterinary ophthalmologists while still working at Animal Medical and has special interests in ophthalmology, critical care and anesthesia. Sandy is compassionate, attentive and extremely qualified. She heads our technician training program and is director of our inpatient and and intensive care unit.

Stacey and Gracey

Stacey Conlin

Stacey is a graduate of Sunny Canton's Veterinary Technician school. She is an experienced and extremely talented LVT having worked in a large veterinary referral practice in upstate New York. She joined Animal Medical in 2003 and heads our outpatient services section. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field with special interests in animal behavior, reproduction and physical therapy.

Danielle

Danielle Johnson, LVT

Danielle is a graduate of Delhi' veterinary technology school. She is a recent addition to our licensed technical staff. She is gentle, compassionate and a skilled veterinary technician. She currently lives with her dog Bruiser and her cat Oreo.

Fredrika Willgren

After joining the staff of Animal Medical in 2004, Fredrika enrolled in Mercy College and is currently working hard towards attaining her bachelors degree in veterinary technology. At Animal Medical Fredrika assists in exam rooms and during procedures, as well as at the reception desk. Fredika is ambitious and dedicated to her profession, and plans an attending graduate school upon completion of her bachelors degree from Mercy College.

Elaine Kahane

Elaine has been employed at Animal Medical of New City, PC since December, 1989. She began as the pet groomer developing a special rapport with clients and building a growing and compassionate grooming business. Over the years she has transitioned from grooming to receptionist to office/business manager with a special affinity for excellence in customer service. Elaine shares her home with her dog (Prince), cat (Reggie), 2 cockatiels (Olive & Popeye) and husband (Barry).

Rebecca Ast

Our newest addition to Animal Medical of New City, Rebecca, started as a kennel assistant and quickly ascended to the position of a vetrinary assistant. She is currently studying At Rcc and has plans to study in the veterinary field. Rebecca shares her home with her bird Kiwi.

Julie Roussell

Julie Roussell

Julie has worked at Animal Medical of New City since December,2002 and is responsible for keeping our facility clean and odor free. Her special love of animals made her invaluable to staff, clients and their pets. Julie has three children, six dogs, one blind cat and two birds.
