Tis the season for giving….and cookies! So let’s not forget our furry friends.  Here at Animal Medical of New City, we decided to celebrate the season by making yummy homemade, healthy, cookies packed with fall flavors such as pumpkin, apples, sweet potatoes and cinnamon. Your elf pup will surely enjoy this holiday treat! Homemade dog treats are really simple to make and can be tailored to your pets dietary needs, for example, you can remove oats for pets that are on grain free diets, just add ¼ cup more wheat flour. So when you’re making pumpkin pie for your next holiday feast, make these cookies, it will be a blast !

INGREDIENTS:

God that face! Give that gorgeous dog some love!

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup oats
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 Tbsp. peanut butter
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

what food can I cook for my dog?DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, oats and cinnamon In a separate large bowl, wish together the eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter. Then stir the wet ingredients into the dry. Use your muscles! Flour a cleaned surface to roll the dough out to ½ in thick. Put some flour on your hands and the rolling pin to help with the stickiness. Cut out using cookie cutters. Place on a parchment paper covered cookie tray, with some space in between the cookies. Place in oven for 30-35 mins. The cookies will harden more once they cool off. Place on cooling rack until completely cooled. Give your pup a cookie to try and send in the pictures!  We’d love to see what you cook up!!!
