Our client care representatives are always available to follow up on your pets progress at home. Please take advantage of these opportunities when speaking with our staff to relay any messages to the doctors you feel may be important.
How can I get an update on my pet who is in the hospital?
If your pet is hospitalized at Animal Medical, please telephone us for a progress report after 10:00am. This gives sufficient time to complete the physical exam and any required laboratory or other diagnostic testing. If your pet is being discharged from the hospital, please contact a client care representative for a discharge appointment time. A doctor or technician will speak with you at the time and will be able to prepare you for your pets return home.
How can I get a telephone consultation with the doctor?
Due to a heavy case load of office calls, hospitalized patients and surgical cases, our doctors’ time to respond to your telephone calls may be limited. If you have questions of a non-emergency nature, it would be best if you first spoke with a client care representative who will attempt to obtain the information you need. If additional information is needed, either Dr. Gittelman or Dr. Schenkel will return your call after completion of their regular duties; these times are usually 12 noon to 4 pm or after 7 pm. |
How do I contact you in case of an emergency?
The hospital telephone is answered 24 hours a day. After regular hours and on holidays, our tele-computer answering system will page a doctor upon your request should an emergency arise. The emergency number is the same as our normal hospital number: (845) 638-3600.
Who do I ask questions about my pet or my pet’s condition?
Inquiries about most subjects can be answered by our client care representative or one of our veterinary technicians during regular hospital hours. We also have an extensive library of medical information available that may add to your knowledge and understanding of various veterinary topics.
