Feeling lucky? You should be! St Patrick’s Day is here, so how about making some St. Patty’s Day Puppy Patties for your pup?! (Say that 10 times fast). These green shamrock cookies will make your pup one happy laddie or lassie!

Ingredients:

1 cup of whole wheat flour

1 cup of cooked peas (frozen- they’re more green)

3 Kale leaves

1 egg

1 chicken breast (cooked and finely chopped)

¼ cup water

Have you noticed that your dog or cat drops food out of its mouth when it eats?

Optional:

Shamrock 3 leaf cookie cutter

Guinness beer (you have to have some St. Patrick’s Day fun too !)

Directions:

Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees

Cook the chicken and chop it into small pieces

Remove the thick stems and ribs from the kale leaves and chop into small pieces as well

Puree the cup of peas with the kale and water (if you don’t have a machine, just mash them up as best you can)

Add the green mixture, chicken, and 1 egg to the 1 cup of flour in a big bowl. Mix together with your hands until dough forms. It might be sticky

Sprinkle your cleaned table with some flour and roll out the dough about ¼ to ½ inch thick.

Use your shamrock cookie cutters and lay them on a parchment paper lined cookie tray a few centimeters apart from each other

Bake your St. Patrick’s Day homemade dog treats in the oven for 20 mins.

Drink your beer, (or kale smoothie if you want to be healthy 🙂

Let the cookies cool in the oven for another 10 mins

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with your furry friend!

Remember! A great pup is like a 4 leaf clover; hard to find but lucky to have. I hope you enjoyed this recipe and we would love to see St Patty’s day pictures of your pets. Please share pictures of you and your pet making these yummy treats on our Facebook page !
